This collection will describe the impact that America has on other countries in terms of humanitarianism, fighting terrorism, and establishing government. This poem is set in the context of the Post-Cold War era. The formatting of these poems are straightforward, but packs a punch when reviewing key terms and events. The first poem is from the perspective of a positive view on Soviet countries' desire to join NATO and the EU. However, the second poem is from the perspective of countries who could not receive aid from the US. What is unique about this collection, however, is that a timeline is included to guide the reader through the poem.
Trigger Warning: These poems may include discussions on terrorism, war, and genocide. Please be safe and be aware!
Under the yellow and red rule
America thought it was about due
From Communism to Democracy
It wouldn't have been considered a fallacy
With welcoming arms
It is time to announce
That Former Soviet Bloc Countries
Moved to NATO and EU without a flounce
Explain why the United States would have welcomed the news that former Soviet bloc countries wanted to join NATO and the EU.
The US would have welcomed former Soviet bloc countries wanting to join NATO and the EU because the news marks the end of communism and the rise of democracy. The United States values liberty, equality, rights, opportunity, but most of all democracy. The Soviet Union followed a single-party Marxist-Leninist state that built towards communism. When communism fell in Europe between 1989-1991, tensions broke out massively between many European countries leading to genocide and war. NATO and the European Union were formed in 1949 and 1993, respectively, and honored peace and prosperity for all its involving members. The European Union follows a representative democracy, similarly to the United States.
Conflicts, Confusion, and Civil Violation
Plan, Peace, and Protect
These two opposing realities
Tangled with one another
Unfortunately, some countries' misfortune
is that America Can't Help Us All
"But they helped Bosnia and Kuwait..."
"What about us?"
Unfortunately dear
They may have forgotten about us
...
We just weren't in their agenda
It is time to stop
Pretending
that America Could Help Us All

The US claimed that it could not afford to engage in every civil war as well as interfere with each nation's internal affairs.
